Food For Thought
Recently, I’ve got food on the brain. Well, not
food exactly but I’ve been thinking about what people put
in their brains and in their bodies. In my study of psychopharmacology,
I’ve been learning about the behavioral effects that drugs
and substances have on the human body. The intent of the class
is to give therapists a thorough knowledge of how drugs influence
our brain and central nervous system…and it occurred to
me just how intricately we are designed. Our brains are highly
complex. Each part of our brain is in charge of all aspects of
our living being; including memory, concept, emotion, how to walk,
move, think and behave. If one cell is off, our whole system can
be affected. I think to myself how careful one has to be of what
we put in our bodies because inevitably everything we reap, we
sow as far as our brains are concerned.
The brain is the control center for our whole system. The mind
grants us our mental attributes and is in charge of our beliefs
and desires. Whatever we allow to enter our minds and bodies permeates
our system and affects every part of us.
What are you allowing to filter through your mind and body? What
movies do you watch? What kind of food do you fill up with? What
do you read or listen to? Do you think about what you put in your
body? Are you treating yourself well? I just know that I was given
a brain to function, and a mind to decipher right from wrong,
to believe in the good and live uprightly.
Some food for thought.
It’s got me thinking.
