Need More Energy?
3 easy ways to have more energy by tomorrow
By Jessica Smith--Certified Personal Trainer for PUSH.tv
If
there are two things in this world that you can never have
enough of, it is energy and time. Having a full schedule
can really zap your energy, especially if you don’t
take time to replenish it now and then.
Next time you are feeling lethargic, try one of these three
simple, caffeine-free tips to increase your energy levels:
- Move. A
body in motion tends to stay in motion, and vice versa.
Even though when you are tired one of the last things you
want to do is move, it is one of the most effective and
fastest ways to become more alert. You don’t have
to hit the gym for an all out workout, even a short burst
of activity, such as a 10 minute walk, can have the same
effect.
- Socialize. Studies have shown
that one of the most effective things women can do to raise
their spirits is to reach out for a friend. Social contact
can help lift your mood and get your mind off of your fatigue.
When you are feeling lethargic, call your best friend. Or,
better yet, invite her to go for a walk!
- Change your mind. When
you are tired, do you often notice how much you tell yourself
(and those around you) just how tired you are? All of that
attention and focus you put onto experiencing the tiredness
just makes it worse! Rewrite your internal dialogue. When
you catch yourself thinking or talking about how tired you
are, stop yourself from focusing on the feeling of being
tired by taking a few deep breaths and saying to yourself, “I
am energized.” I know it sounds a little hokey, but,
believe me; you would be surprised how effective it is. Our
minds have tremendous power and influence over our bodies.
So next time you are feeling exhausted, check in with what
kind of message you are sending to yourself: is it one of
fatigue, or one of energy and vitality?
And
remember, having more energy can also help you create more
time – moving
through your day alert and alive makes you more efficient
and effective, which can add up to a huge time savings!
