Adopting
the Concept of Adoption!
You’re
planning to adopt yet you have so many questions… what
shall you do?
Last
week the cactus died and recently you remembered that
you have fish to feed. Hubby is gung-ho about this adoption
thing and infertility is a given. What to do?
Relax,
take a deep breath. It's all going to work out.
Families
who suddenly become parents and are suddenly thrown into
a situation involving children report that something
quite beautiful and extraordinary takes place and happens.
We all have natural instincts we never really knew or
know we possess until we have to use them. Remember
that time you were great in a crisis? You didn't know
you had it in you until you had to do it. Adoption is
much the same.
It's
such a scary concept. Will birth mother change her mind
and come into your lives one day? Will this cutest little
thing one day want to leave you and be with them? What
about medical history?
Certainly
there are things you have the right to know and in fact
need to. The problem is will you ever be able to? Should
this be an open adoption with birth mom? Should the kid
even ever know if he/she has been adopted in the first
place? What if you turn out not to be parent material?
The
real deal is that regardless of adoption or not kids
don't come with directions or guarantees. All
parents make mistakes and the kids, mother in law and
teachers will be more than happy to remind you of it
on a daily basis. We all do the best we can as parents
at the time with the tools we have. You're no different
than anyone else.
Seek
the support of friends and family members for help and
advice. Check the phone book or internet for support
groups and or chat rooms.
Again,
relax, take a deep breath. It's all going to work out.

She'd adopt seven more if Hubby, Luther, would agree
to it!
